A variety of sunflowers can be found in Riley County. You don’t have to be paying attention to notice the clusters of sunflowers growing along the ditches and creeks in Riley County. This one was found growing in some brush along a creek near my house.

More information about wildflowers in Kansas can be found at the Kansas Wildflowers and Grasses website.

Enjoying the bright colors that can be found in the wildflowers is another reason that life is great in Riley County.

UPDATE: I’ve been told that this is a Jerusalem Artichoke. It is a part of the Sunflower Family.
